Classical Rummy experience on your Windows PC

Engage in the timeless game of classical Rummy on your Windows PC. This authentic and engaging digital adaptation of the traditional card game offers a captivating blend of skill, strategy, and competitive spirit.

Indian Rummy for Windows faithfully adheres to the established rules of Rummy, ensuring a genuine and engaging gaming experience. Form melds of runs and sets, strategically utilize wild cards, and outmaneuver your opponents to claim victory.

How do you play Indian Rummy?

The objective of Indian Rummy for Windows is the same as the classical card game which is to form runs (sequences of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) and sets (groups of three or more cards of the same rank). A valid declaration must have at least two runs, one of which must be pure (no jokers). The first player to form valid runs and sets using all 13 cards wins the round.

In Indian Rummy for Windows, Each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck, with two jokers added. Players take turns picking up a card from the closed pile (undealt cards) and discarding a card to the open pile. The goal is to form runs and sets using the cards in your hand.

Players must always have 13 cards in their hand. If a player picks up a card from the closed pile that they cannot use, they must discard it immediately. Once a player has formed at least two runs, one of which must be pure, and a set, they can declare "Rummy" and show their cards.

If a player declares Rummy successfully, they win the round. The points of the cards remaining in the hands of the losing players are added to the winner's score.

What are the types of melds in Indian Rummy?

There are three different types of melds in Indian Rummy:

  • Runs: A run is a sequence of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. For example, 6, 7, 8 of Spades is a valid run
  • Sets: A set is a group of three or more cards of the same rank, regardless of suit. For example, 3 of Hearts, 3 of Diamonds, and 3 of Clubs is a valid set
  • Pure runs: A pure run is a run that does not contain any jokers. For example, 6, 7, 8 of Spades is a pure run, while 6, Joker, 8 of Spades is not

Jokers can also be used to complete runs or sets in Indian Rummy. However, a pure run must not contain any jokers.

Is Indian Rummy for Windows banned in India?

No, Indian Rummy for Windows is not banned in India. Indian Rummy is a skill-based game, and the Supreme Court of India has ruled that skill-based games do not fall under the purview of gambling laws. Therefore, Indian Rummy is legal to play in India, and Indian Rummy for Windows is a legal app.
